Evisu will primarily always be an evangelist for raw denim, and we maintain that there is nothing quite like the unique patina of your very own broken-in jeans, but we wanted to give you the choice to speed up that journey.

For 2008, we’ve worked extremely hard with our laundries to develop the most authentic possible washes for Evisu Genes, all based on worn denim from within the company.

The Gakumon have a slim fit that is a more figurehugging, fashionable cut than the more authentic Heritage blocks. This is not a tight-skinny jean, but it is figure-hugging, with a short 12” back rise, 9.5” front rise, and a long slim leg tapering to a narrow 7.5” hem. These genes have a worn vintage feel and look. This is a dark rinse wash with yellow over tinting, bringing out the slubby character of the Japanese denims. The abrasion and whiskering is subtle, with a faded seat, and lightly brushed hems. The back pockets feature a simple white Evisu logo. Machine washable. 100% Cotton.

Selvage denim is not used, but we’ve infused each pair with classic Evisu hardware like burr rivets and donut button and classic Evisu stylecraft like two tone stitching and chain-stitching. Jeans are running +2 inches. Please size down.
